Happy New Year…

2009 January 1
by David Walker

It is with great excitement that I say to my friends, family and the world Happy New Year!

For many, 2008 was a beast. In taking the good with the bad, one super nova was the election of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States of America. I look forward to the new year for numerous reasons and January 20th will represent one major aspect of my hope for things to come when Obama is inaugurated in Washington, DC.

Arguably, no president in the history of the United States will acquire such an elaborate multi-faceted mess that President Obama will inherit. Recession bordering depression, banking collapse, auto industry collapse, unemployment (at an all time high), the 100+ year Israeli-Palestinian conflict, broken healthcare system, unprecedented home foreclosures, and government corruption everywhere you turn. While I failed to mention the angst the angry right will heave in his direction, ready to second guess his every move while eternally sobering over the fact that B.O. ( as they so affectionately refer to the president elect) will occupy their beloved White House, don’t ever be shocked at the lengths to which the Right will go to discredit him and acknowledge his successes.

In this new year, my personal goals are rather straight forward. I usually am in agreement that resolutions usually fail before February rolls around. This year, I post mine for all to see so that it may function as a mirror for me to look at this time next year to see if I achieved the benchmarks I established for myself and my family. In no order of importance I share with the world all of the things I plan to achieve in 2009.

  1. Make a dollar save a dime > save more than 10 percent of all income
  2. Read 100 books
  3. Get published
  4. Exhibit more patience with family
  5. Exorcise procrastination from my life, it’s cost me enough
  6. Get in shape and stay in shape
  7. Get golf handicap to 12 or better
  8. Perfect a personal time management system
  9. Show a profit from business “irons in the fire”
  10. Finish 2009 better off than 2008

I wish you all the best in 2009. I plan to post to this blog on a regular basis. Topics will be extremely random. My intent is to always post information that others might find valuable enough to forward to someone else. Make 2009 your year. Peace and Love.
